Online Therapy

Online psychotherapy or teletherapy is an effective and convenient option for treatment. Studies show that online cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is just as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy.

For online sessions I use a fully encrypted HIPAA-compliant audio/video platform that is designed for health professionals. Teletherapy has become more common for clients who prefer meeting in the privacy of their home, want to work with a therapist outside their city, cannot leave their home due to a psychological or physical condition or it simply works best for their busy schedule.

Does online therapy work for OCD?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can really help with OCD. The research is encouraging. In a study of more than 3,500 adults, exposure and response prevention (ERP) delivered by video led to significant improvement in OCD symptoms, with results similar to those seen in studies of in-person therapy. People saw improvement whether their symptoms were mild, moderate, or severe.

For many people, online ERP also means getting specialized care without a long drive, a long waitlist, or leaving the comfort of home.

Intensive Outpatient Program

This option is for clients who are interested in focusing on their recovery intensely for a shorter amount of time. This is useful for clients who are from areas where OCD treatment is limited, for those who have time limitations and cannot commit to 4 to 6 months of weekly sessions, and for students who are on break from school. The intensive treatment option involves multiple sessions throughout the week for a set amount of time depending on the client’s needs and availability.
